Richard Huddleston joined Morgan Stanley in March 2011 as program architect for the greenfield Velocity trading platform.  After the Knight Capital event in mid-2012, Richard was assigned to assemble and direct a team to develop and deploy a global solution for trading system error detection and control.  This team began selectively incorporating statistical learning models to this problem in 2014, and since 2017 Richard has additionally directed the Algo-ML effort in ALGO to coordinates the evaluation and selective adoption of AI techniques with the MS AI-ML Center of Excellence and other teams throughout Morgan Stanley.  Richard’s current interests are Explainable AI and “safety-first” adoption of AI in algorithmic trading.  Richard has been working with artificial neural networks since the early 1990s, and has been working in financial services since joining Bear Stearns in 1996.  In 2004, Richard co-founded and was CTO for trading-latency measurement startup Trading Metrics.
