Patrice Aguesse

Patrice Aguesse, Head of the Market Regulation Division, Regulatory Policy & International Affairs Department At Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF)

He represents the AMF at the Market Standing Committee of ESMA which encompasses financial markets and post-markets topics.

After a year at Banque Hervet, he joined the trading room at Sovac Bank in January 1992, where he was actively involved in the bank’s refinancing and hedging activities. He returned to the Commission des Opérations de Bourse (COB) in June 1995, initially as a project manager in the Debt and Derivatives Division of the Issuers Directorate, before becoming head of this division in April 1998, with additional responsibility for banks and insurance companies in 2002. From 2003 to 2005, he was seconded to the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, where the MiFID I and Prospectus Directives were negotiated.

In 2005, he rejoined the AMF as head of the listed companies regulation division within the Regulation and International Affairs Department. In September 2011, he was seconded to the Treasury Office in New York to monitor the regulation of US financial markets, in particular the implementation of the Dodd Frank Act on derivatives, asset management and technical developments in the stock markets.

Patrice AGUESSE holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
