FIX Trading Community public consultation on FIX Protocol changes for digital asset trading

The FIX Trading Community has started a public consultation on proposed changes to the FIX Protocol to support the trading of digital assets. These changes leverage existing trading models for other asset classes such as FX and equities, and are intended to provide a common messaging standard for trading this important class of assets.

The public consultation runs until June 17th 2022. A link to the proposal can be found at: https://www.fixtrading.org/packages/fix-protocol-gap-analysis-extensions-for-digital-asset-trading/ and comments can be provided at https://forum.fixtrading.org/t/public-comment-period-extensions-for-digital-asset-trading/16568.

Further work planned this year will include production of a recommended practices guide for digital asset trading, after which the working group expects to analyze pre-trade messaging (e.g. IOIs, market data) and post-trade (allocation through to settlement).
