Federal Association of Securities Trading Firms (BWF)

The Bundesverband der Wertpapierfirmen e.V. (bwf) was founded in September 2003, under the then name Bundesverband der Wertpapierfirmen an den deutschen Börsen e.V., on the initiative of the previous federal associations of price brokers/financial intermediaries on the one hand and investment trading firms on the other. Since January 2004, it has continued the business of the previous federal associations. The aim of the new foundation was to create a uniform representation of the interests of German investment firms (which have also been referred to as securities institutions in the local legal framework since 2021).

The purpose of the association is to safeguard and promote the common professional interests of investment firms/institutions. The bwf represents the interests of the industry in the context of upcoming national and European regulatory, legislative and subordinate regulatory projects in the field of financial services and capital market law.

In doing so, the bwf seeks ongoing dialogue with the legislative bodies, the supervisory authorities, other banking and financial associations, the interested public and the various institutions of stock exchange and securities trading at national, European and global level.
