Larry Tabb, Head of Market Structure Research, Bloomberg Intelligence
Larry Tabb is the Head of Market Structure Research at Bloomberg Intelligence. Currently Larry is building out his research team to develop research and insight on financial markets infrastructure, technology, regulation, trading practices and industry issues.
Prior to joining Bloomberg in June 2020, Larry was the Research Chairman of TABB Group, the financial markets’ strategic advisory and research firm where he managed research and consulting for TABB Group. Mr. Tabb published on many aspects of the capital markets industry and has analyzed both US and European market structure; central clearing, credit default swaps, fixed income, equity and foreign exchange trading; financial markets trading and processing systems; analytical trading tools; cloud computing, and financial markets infrastructure.
In 2018, Larry was selected to sit on the SEC Fixed Income Market Structure Advisory Committee (FIMSAC) as well as the CFTC Technology Advisory Committee, in addition Larry was asked to participate in the SEC Market Data Roundtable, held in October 2018 at the SEC’s Washington DC headquarters. In March 2012, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission selected Larry to assist their CFTC Technical Advisory Committee as a member of its Subcommittee of Automated and High Frequency Trading (HFT). In September 2012 he was invited by the US Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs to testify at the Senate Subcommittee on Securities, Insurance and Investment session on “Computerized Trading: What Should the Rules of the Road be?”, chaired by Senator Jack Reed (D-RI).
Larry is quoted extensively and in virtually all industry and general news publications, he has been cited in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The New York Times, Associated Press, CNN, Bloomberg, CNBC, Reuters, Dow Jones News, Barron’s, Forbes, Financial News, Business Insider, Waters as well as many other media. He continues to be a featured speaker at major industry and business conferences throughout the US, Europe, Asia and Canada.
Before founding TABB Group, Larry was vice president and founder of TowerGroup’s Securities & Investments practice. Prior to joining TowerGroup, he managed business analysis for Lehman Brothers’ Trading Services Division and he began his career managing various operations for the North American Investment Bank of Citibank.
