Fergal Toomey

Chief Scientist & Co-Founder

Fergal is one of Corvil’s founders and a specialist in bandwidth and QoS measurement technologies. He has been involved in the design and development of innovative traffic measurement and analysis algorithms for the past 12 years. Prior to joining Corvil in 2000, Fergal held the position of assistant professor in the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, where he was a member of Prof. John T. Lewis’ applied probability group which also included Raymond Russell, Corvil’s Chief Technology Officer.

At DIAS, Fergal worked on applications ranging from probability theory and game theory to performance modeling and analysis for networks and real-time computing systems. He has published technical papers on subjects including real-time QoS-aware measurement of network traffic and performance analysis of network queuing and scheduling models.

At Corvil Fergal has been intensively involved in developing key product innovations directly applicable to managing IT system performance. Recently he has been involved in applying these innovations in the Enterprise sector to help our customers realize the full capabilities of the product.

Fergal holds an M.Sc. in Physics and a Ph.D. in Applied Probability Theory, both from Trinity College, Dublin.
