Charles Morris

Charlie was previously the Chief Investment Officer at Newscape from 2016 to 2018. He oversaw the assets and managed the Diversified Growth Fund. He restructured the fund with a new investment process, while keeping the portfolio diversified and the volatility low. Over the two years under his tenure, fund assets grew to £11m from a standing start, with gross performance at the top of its peer group. Charlie continues to manage the fund at Atlantic House under contract.

Prior to that, Charlie was the Head of Absolute Return at HSBC Global Asset Management, which he joined in 1998 freshly out of the army. He co-founded the Absolute Return Service in 2002, which grew assets to in excess of USD 3 billion across a multi-asset range of portfolios. The ability to combine asset classes in the early 2000s was highly effective. Charlie evolved the process post 2008 to focus on factor investing as asset classes became more correlated. Shortly after joining HSBC, Charlie built a risk-management system to oversee the wealth management division and ensured the firm was the first among competitors to have online access to client portfolios.
