Alisa DiCaprio, Chief Economist, R3

Alisa DiCaprio is the Chief Economist at enterprise technology and services firm, R3, based in New York City. In this role she oversees R3’s research and market intelligence functions. This includes providing economic advice on developments in digital assets, CBDC, trade and payments as well as contributing to R3 interactions with the public sector. 

From 2017-2022 Alisa held various positions in R3 covering trade and supply chain as well as research and training.  She joined from Asian Development Bank where she was a senior economist working on digital trade, trade finance and innovation. During that time, she headed the team that calculated the global trade finance gap. Prior to ADB, she was an academic economist with the United Nations. She has also served in both the public and private sectors on export promotion, trade negotiations, and development issues. 

She has worked in Cambodia, Chile, Finland, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, and the US. Her PhD is from MIT, and she holds a BA and MA from Johns Hopkins University.

Basu Choudhury, Head of Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives, OSTTRA FX & Securities

With over twenty years’ experience in business, technology, regulation and financial markets infrastructure, Basu currently works within the FX and Securities division of OSTTRA,

the new home of MarkitServ, Traiana , TriOptima and Reset.

 Basu’s main focus is on driving strategic initiatives in order to deliver service capabilities for institutional firms operating in the wholesale FX and Securities markets.

 Basu brings a wealth of FX knowledge and experience as the former Head of Product for LCH ForexClear service, where he lead the design of the service for FX NDF

clearing and was at the forefront of the definition of a model for CCPs to interact with CLS to enable the clearing of FX deliverable products (FX Options/Spot/Forwards).

Before joining LCH Basu was at Standard Bank, where he was a business/technical architect focused on business process reengineering for the local markets’ desks across its global FX emerging markets footprint.

Prior to his time at Standard Bank, he spent over 10 years building, designing and supporting banking and hedge fund business initiatives across FX, Equity Derivatives, Rates and Credit business lines.

 Basu received his Masters in Economics, specializing in econometrics and options theory, from the University of Toronto in 1997.

Laurence Jones, Americas Regional Director, FIX Trading Community

With 18 years’ experience in the financial services post-trade space, Laurence serves as the Americas Regional Director at FIX, and is a Managing Partner at TZero Partners LLC, a post-trade consultancy firm. Laurence has held several roles in FIX, including Co-Chair of the Global Post Trade Working Group from 2018-2023 as well as sitting on the Americas Governance Board since 2019. Previously Laurence was a Director in Post-Trade Strategy at Traiana where he led the design & launch of their payment messaging and matching products, utilizing FIX workflows. Prior to Traiana, Laurence held numerous senior level roles including 6 years at LCH where he helped design and develop the first OTC FX Clearing Service. He also oversaw the expansion of FX Operations in North America, as well as managing the Collateral Operations team globally. Laurence has also worked at JPMorgan, Merrill Lynch and Lloyds Bank within Derivative Operations.
