Alasdair Were, Director of Environmental Markets, Abaxx Exchange

Formerly the Director of Digital Climate Markets at the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) Alasdair was involved in launching Climate Action Data Trust, a metadata layer for carbon markets in partnership with the World Bank and Government of Singapore. Prior to that, he held a number of trading roles across energy and agriculture firms. He currently leads Abaxx Exchange’s development of new environmental products.

He has a bachelor in global business and diploma in commodity trading from the University Of Geneva.

Eleanor Beasley, Head of Market Structure and COO, Goldman Sachs’ EMEA Equities Business.

Ellie is head of market structure and chief operating officer for Goldman Sachs’ EMEA Equities business. She joined Goldman Sachs in 2019 as an executive director and was named managing director in 2023. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Ellie spent 15 years at Morgan Stanley, where she held several roles and was most recently head of Market Structure for Clients. Ellie serves on the board of Cboe Europe, the AFME Equities Board and the FCA’s secondary markets advisory committee, in addition to several exchange and industry advisory groups. Ellie earned a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Bristol University.

Scott Hernandez, Managing Director of CFS, Xpansiv 

Scott Hernandez is Managing Director of Xpansiv’s Carbon Financial Services (CFS), where he oversees the portfolio, market advisory and trade services in voluntary carbon, renewable energy and low carbon fuels.  Prior to CFS, Scott led the commercial development and growth of environmental products at CBL Markets, focusing on voluntary carbon, California Carbon Allowances (CCAs), Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) allowances, and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). Scott led commercial expansion for Xpansiv in Europe, supporting the development and launch of the GEO and NGEO standardized contracts for CORSIA and nature-based carbon solutions. With CFS, Scott advises corporate and aviation clients to build offset tailored offset portfolios to meet compliance requirements, retail needs and internal metrics.

Hayley McDowell, Head of European Market Structure, RBC Capital Markets

Hayley is Head of European Market Structure at RBC Capital Markets. She joined the firm in 2021 after almost seven years working as a Senior Journalist and then Editor of London-based buy-side trading publication, The TRADE. Hayley’s focus at RBC is to provide timely insights on key market structure and regulatory developments to clients and colleagues, working alongside the product and quant teams and leveraging market structure trends to strengthen RBC’s low-touch trading offering. Hayley is also a member of several industry working groups at key trade associations, including AFME, ICMA and FIX Trading Community.
