Matthias Bauer-Langgartner is Managing Director for UK & Ireland at Bitpanda, a leading European digital investment platform. Prior to joining Bitpanda, Matthias was Technical Specialist at the UK FCA’s Innovate Department where he set up and continuously improved the Regulatory Sandbox, leading on crypto asset & DLT-based testing activities mainly in payments and wholesale markets (including tokenisation). As part of the UK Crypto Asset Taskforce, he leveraged his hands-on experience to coordinate the wider FCA policy approach on crypto assets and DLT. Matthias also advised numerous governments, authorities and international organisations on Innovation policy and is currently active member of the Austrian FinTech Advisory Board recommending FinTech policy measures to the Austrian Government.

Richard Turner, Senior Trader, Insight Investment

Richard has 24 years’ trading experience across a broad spectrum of financial products. Formerly at Cargill where he traded agricultural commodities, FX and interest Rate products, Richard joined Pareto Partners where he traded FX and multi-strategy products.  Pareto merged subsequently with Insight Investment where Richard now specialises in algorithmic trading (and TCA) for FX and Equity products.  Richard is a BEng (Environmental and Civil Engineering) and Master of Technical Analysis (MSTA).

Trevor Mallinson, Head of Product, Bloomberg Trading Facility Ltd

Trevor Mallinson is Head of Product for Bloomberg’s UK MTF. He joined Bloomberg’s Fixed Income Electronic Trading business in 2012 and has been closely involved in the interpretation and implementation of a number of regulations globally including MiFIDII/ MiFIR. Prior to joining Bloomberg he worked in the Fixed Income businesses of Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan respectively.

Vincent Grandjean, Founder & CEO, Propellant Digital

Vincent is the founder of Propellant Digital, a fintech that organises publicly available markets data along with clients’ internal proprietary data to empower advanced analytics and provide critical business insights. He has extensive front-to-back experience in electronic trading through his positions in Front Office eCommerce and in Information Technology. He played a key role defining Fixed Income market structure strategy at both Santander and Société Générale. This includes ownership of strategic partnerships, for which industry consortia, many of them strategic investments, figure prominently.

Vincent is a self-motivated, proactive, and action-oriented individual. He has a track record as an entrepreneur who will take the initiatives to pursue innovative solutions. He successfully launched and drove Project Sentinel with a consortium of banks. The initiative delivered a state-of-the-art platform to support banks MiFID II compliance and provide an unprecedented opportunity to improve the business commercial data across Capital Markets. This has led to the launch of a data platform that is used for Client and Trading analytics.

His new venture Propellant Digital uses this experience to organise financial market information and make it transparent, accessible, affordable and useful to its ecosystem.

Prior to launching Propellant Digital last year, he held various roles at Santander, Société Générale and Citigroup. Before his move into Fixed Income, he managed an Equity low latency connectivity technology team at UBS. Vincent started his career as a business consultant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Luxembourg.

Daniel Mayston, Head of Electronic Trading and Market Structure EMEA, BlackRock

Daniel Mayston, PhD, FRM, Managing Director, is Head of Market Structure and Electronic Trading in BlackRock’s Global Trading organization in Europe. He also leads the Market Structure and Trading Research teams globally.

Dr. Mayston is responsible for overseeing electronic trading initiatives, adapting the trading platform in the light of market structure evolution, and delivering execution research across all asset classes. His role’s mandate includes strengthening the role of quantitative data, modelling and technology in the trading process to drive execution performance. His research responsibilities include the delivery of execution and liquidity models which combine econometric techniques with innovative machine learning approaches.

Dr. Mayston partners closely across BlackRock’s modelling, risk management and investment teams to provide thought leadership on liquidity and liquidity risk for the firm. He also represents BlackRock externally on various industry bodies and at conferences to advocate for trading and market structure solutions in the interest of the end investor.

Dr. Mayston earned a PhD in Finance from the University of Cologne. His academic focus was on liquidity risk. He is a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) charter holder.

Natan Tiefenbrun, President, North American and European Equities, Cboe Global Markets

Natan Tiefenbrun is President, North American and European Equities at Cboe Global Markets. In this role, Tiefenbrun oversees Cboe Europe, which operates the largest pan-European stock exchange and equity trade reporting facility and has venues in the UK (Cboe UK) and the EU (Cboe NL). He also oversees Cboe’s North American equities business, which operates one of the largest US equities exchanges and a Canadian equity trading venue.

Tiefenbrun was previously President for Cboe Europe from June 2022 to October 2023, having first joined the company as its Head of European Equities in June 2021. Prior to Cboe, Tiefenbrun was Managing Director, EMEA Execution Services at Bank of America (BofA), where he worked since 2013. He led the firm’s agency equities execution services in the EMEA region, including its high touch, portfolio trading and electronic trading offerings. During this tenure he served on the Equities Board of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME).                                          

Prior to BofA, Tiefenbrun spent four years with the London Stock Exchange Group, most recently as Chief Executive Officer of Turquoise, a pan-European equities and equity derivatives trading platform. He began his financial career in 1993 with Instinet, where he spent 13 years developing and running the firm’s portfolio trading, algorithmic trading and sponsored access business.

He holds a degree in Computing Science from the University of Edinburgh.
